Every member pays in the same total and receives the same total: a daret creates no gain and charges no interest. What changes with your position is timing. Take the pot in month 2 of a 10-month circle and you are handed money you would otherwise have needed eight more months to save. Take it in month 10 and you did the group the same favour.
Set the contribution at what you can pay in a difficult month, then let the number of members decide the pot. If the pot is too small, add members rather than raising the contribution — a bigger circle costs you the same each month and only lengthens the wait.
